I was just browsing on northeast coin's website and clicked on the following pictures. The grade that PCGS gave this coin seems too high in my opinion and figured I'd ask the community.

Here's the obverse and reverse of the coin in question. I'll tell you what PCGS graded it after a few replies.

I think this is AU55 at best.

The toning is pretty cool but the crud on the reverse is troubling. Also, it looks like there is wear on Monticello with the columns almost being undetectable. This could be the result of a weak strike or perhaps the lighting in the photo but it just doesn't look good.

That's what I was thinking. There is nearly nothing left of the columns in Monticello, as well as the crud on the back. The toning is neat.

It may well be an MS.
However, if it is, the photos aren't giving it justice.
Rest in Peace

something is not right with this coin. on the obv. Jefferson's hair is not well defined yet the letters and date are. what's with faint horizontal lines ? on the rev. most of Monticello is very
weak yet nice steps for a 58-d. the D mint is sharp so are all bottom letters. top letters seem weak. also those faint horizontal lines. add a little crud to the rev. all I can say; is it came from the mint this way.

Same thoughts and comments as above. Coins like these give me a little trouble: many aspects I like but enough in the way of possible issues that give me doubt. Good Luck!
