Would love to know what this is. Looks like a type of Indian Rupee? 11.7 grams and 26 mm diameter. I don't know if I even have the images right side up!!

Thanks for any help.

11.7 grams and 26 mm diameter. I've searched my old Kraus world coin book and don't find anything quite the same. Very few have the square box design on the reverse. That should be a tip off for me, but I still can't find it.

Have done a lot more "looking" and the nearest thing I find is a Silver Rupee of Sher Shah Suri (1538-45). Can anybody confirm that and nail it down a little tighter?

I think it is a temple token.
First picture:
center is the first kalimah

around are the names of the 4 caliphs, sons of the Prophet Mohammed:
Abu Bakar, 1th caliph. Omar, 2nd caliph. Usman, 3th caliph. Ali, 4th caliph

Second picture:
I think I can read a date in hyderabad arabic at the bottom of the coin: AH1056
That converts to approx 1646AD
That is the period of the Mughals in India.
In that period the ruling emperor was Shah Jahan:

Normal had the bottom line the place of mint on the coin.

If you send these pictures to http://www.zeno.ru/index.php you will have an answer
