The first coin I've bought for ages - and of a ruler I have never had a coin of before.

I think (?) it a type 5(g?) but I'm not really certain of this at all - corrections welcome.

Reverse is WILLEM ON CANT

A fine penny! But Henry ruled so very long, with so many pennies minted in his name. The first moneyers were long in their graves when the last hammers fell. Makes for quite a Byzantine array of varieties.

Thanks. This era of English rulers is one I've really neglected so hopefully in 2015 I'll be able to pick up another couple of examples.

My eyes are not the best anymore, but it seems to show more similarities with Vf than Vg. Yes, there is a single band to the crown but that might be wear - rest seems to match Vf better.

Thanks, you might well be right, it's not a series I know much about. What exactly are the "rest" of the characteristics? The band on the crown sure does look like a single one.

Left and right 'C's at the face, chin, cross on crown.
The top of the sceptre is halfway between the two sub-types.
In the end show it to a dealer who has a lot of experience with the series.
