250 mintage for this coin is not a low number.
The 2 ounce Pt proof was a very expensive coin to begin with, and that limited the demand for them. That is despite the fact that the Perth Mint marketed them Worldwide.

About 250 of them have been minted every year for over 15 years. The low annual mintage for market saturation was considered to be about right for all of them to be sold during the year. It is somewhat analogus to a baker only baking enough bread in the morning, for all of it to be sold during the day it is baked.

PF69 is the typical result when these coins are slabbed. The Perth Mint has extremely mintage standards; their reputation depends on it.

Nevertheless in an absolute sense, a very scarce coin, and a highly desirable one as well. I have the one ounce version of this coin, of the same date.

As an interesting sidelight, the Perth Mint has currently for sale the World's most expensive coin EVER. You can buy it for only a tiny percentage over the spot price.
What coin is it?
A ONE TONNE Million Dollar face value gold coin. It is currently on open public display at the Perth Mint, and you can walk right up to it and touch it. It is about a metre in diameter, and about 10cm thick.
Hurry! Hurry! Don't miss out! someone could beat you to buy this beauty! Put your money down now!
