Medieval Pillar of the Community 3772 Posts	Posted 01/06/2015 05:38 am Better reverse pictures would be needed to attribute the coins to specific mints. Yes, it looks the Penny is type 5a for John. Can't find a match for the obverse of the cut Penny for Henry II, looks rather like one of the later re-issues. Also can't find a match to the reverse with the for dotted crosses. Would need a more detailed catalogue (than I have) of the coinage of that time to properly attribute the coin. Report this Post to the Staff

philadelphian Pillar of the Community United States 3253 Posts	Posted 01/06/2015 11:42 pm As for the cut half, the last three letters in the remaining legend are ON D (with a backwards N). This narrows the mint down drastically; I suspect the only option is Durham. The moneyers name ends in M; the available options are ADAM, a Durham moneyer of Henry II, or perhaps a WILLEM, a moneyer of later monarchs. Report this Post to the Staff
