Another of today's "junk" box rescues. I do like these earlier coins bearing the likeness of a younger Queen Victoria. Unfortuntely, I'd judge this specimen was once cleaned much to its detriment today.

Yes, they were being sold by weight, so they all worked out to that price apiece without making any allowance for some of the other coins being much heavier. Three other farthings that came home with me were a 1903, a 1917, and a 1925. The 1917's pretty crisp, with only the slightest traces of wear to the highest points.

Banditry is alive and well around the junk boxes.

I know the purists will flail at me, but that cleaning looks to be so long ago it is no longer an issue.
