So, jack jeckels post about finishing his Jefferson Dansco inspired me. I mentioned in that thread I thought I might have everything pulled from circ sitting in tubes. At least through 59 as that is as late as I keep. After posting in that thread I realized duh, I can finish of the Whitman album dad started just as I am working on his Walker, IHP and Franky albums. So I set about going through my tubes. I also mentioned I had never found a 50D. Likely never will. BUT, I do have two circulated examples I picked up in 2x2s, so one went in that slot until I get insanely lucky and find one. So, did I have all the coins he needed to finish? This is what he needed: 1938D 1938S 1939D 1939S 1942D 1943D 1946S 1947S 1949S 1950 1950D 1951S 1952S 1955 The album is an old one and only runs 38-64. The second album is 65- and has only two pages. Seems Whitman played it safe back when. Anyway, out of those coins I was missing only one. THE 1955! Of the coins on that list, the LAST one I would have thought I did not have would be the 55. Every 55 I have is either D or S. Guess I gotta get a few boxes eh? And here are a few pics of the pages. I put the silver stars to mark the ones I put in.

Nice job! I was never close to my father, but when he died, his new wife mailed me his coin collection (at least, the non-silver stuff like Lincoln cents and foreign coins and currency). I got a folder...maybe it's Whitman, but could be something else, and I can't look right now because my fiancée is asleep and I will wake her up if I go in there, and then she will kill me, and that wouldn't be a good thing...but the folder was for 1941 and up cents. He had completed maybe half of it, and I had the cents collected over the years to finish it for him, which I did. Again, though I was not close to my father, it's weird that he and I shared a hobby like coin collecting, and I keep that album with my valuable coins because it has that priceless sentimental value for me now. Again, congratulations on (almost) completing that folder, and good luck finding your elusive 1955 nickel.

I love your story. Only one more coin to find. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Congrats on the set.
The 1955 was one of the last 2 or 3 I needed as well.
I have at least $200 worth of pre 1960 nickels I've thrown in a bucket sitting around I need to go through and try to fill a few folders with.

Still missing the '55?
Funny story. The first time I ever CRH I had a box of nickels and was so new to CRH and collecting that I didn't quite know what to keep. I used the search feature and someone listed the top 10 dates to find for Jeffersons.
The 1955 was on that list. Sure enough in one of my first 10 or so rolls I found one! I was super excited and didn't think I'd beat that. The 2nd to last roll in the whole box was a 1920 Buff.
Pretty neat, congrats so far on the accomplishment. Nice looking set!
