Where should I sell these? not really wanting to use ebay.. its the graded Jefferson proof nickels from 1938 to 2013.there are 65 graded by NGC and 8 graded by PCGS. the only years missing are 1939 reverse 0f 1940..1940 reverse of 1938. ..1940...1942.. 1942 silver..2014.there are 31 proof or SP 70 in this set. NGC has this valued at just over $9200.

Wow!
Bet that is a nice set...
I am extending my Jeff album to accept every proof, not just the
"S" proof only years as it came from Dansco. So, I'll be looking
for all those early years myself... Just not that nice, of course....
I wouldn't dare break out a PF 70 to put in my album... LoL

I wish I had a good idea for your liquidation, but I don't. Someone
will chime in with what ya need though.

I just decided to post after drooling over your description of the set.

You wouldn't want to post pics, would ya?

Question about the years you are missing:
Are those just hard dates that are prohibitively expensive?
Or you just hadn't got around to those particular dates yet?

A set with that value, should be consigned to a major auction house, like Heritage or Great Collections. I would say, keep it and finish it complete. But obviously you probably need the money.

Contact Ian over at Great Collections. But be prepared, NGC values are ideal values, not real auction values. There is also nothing wrong with a BIN or Best Offer at ebay, just to test the waters.

Contact Ian @ GreatCollections. They are a smaller auction house who are specializing in the less than blockbuster coins & collections. Go visit the site, you'll see a lot of material that will look a lot like what you have to sell.

I've bought from them, and spoken to Ian and Raylene at a couple of shows. Good vibes, but there are some reports that are less glowing. YMMV.

As with any sale, you aren't going to receive what you think of as full value. The NGC price guide is an optimistic view of what the buyer would pay. You'll receive less than that because of auction fees - or if you sell to a dealer, because s/he has to make a living and that living is the difference between what they buy it from you at and what they sell it to me for.

Gotcha... Just curious. I have decided on this endeavor, but haven't
studied it in detail yet.

Nice coins.

Hopefully all will end well. Jefferson nickels are not one of the more popular coins to sell. Hopefully you'll do OK.
