I have a question that carries this subject along nicely...
Since all 2009 cents that were produced "for collectors" were
copper (as opposed to zinc), but not all "collector" cents
came from the mint in 'mint sets'... Would there not be 2
distinct sets of copper uncirculated cents in a complete set
of 2009 cents? You would have some copper P/D sets that were
satin, since they came in the mint set. There you would have
some that were not satin, that came from other sources.
Am I thinking correctly, or was it ONLY the 'mint set' cents
that were copper? Which would mean that ALL copper 2009 P/D
cents were satin... ? The mint's wording was that all "collector"
versions were copper, which leads me to believe there were
copper cents available outside the 'mint sets'. And since the
'mint sets' were the only coins to get the satin finish, those
'other' collector coppers would not be satin.
Sorry so wordy, but trying to make my though process clear.
Anyone know how that works out?
