This is regarding satin coins that were produced between 2005-2010. Were all of the coins within the mint sets satin or were some excluded? For instance, were all of the 2009 Lincoln cents satin? Nickels, quarters, halves, and dollar?

Also, someone told me that in 2011 and 2012 some coins were satin. I don't think that is true. Am I right? Thanks.

Yes, all coins within the 2005-2010 mint sets had a satin finish, although some looked more satin than others --some of the national parks quarters looked like business strikes to me. As far as I know, there weren't any 2011-2012 coins with the same satin finish.

I have a question that carries this subject along nicely...

Since all 2009 cents that were produced "for collectors" were
copper (as opposed to zinc), but not all "collector" cents
came from the mint in 'mint sets'... Would there not be 2
distinct sets of copper uncirculated cents in a complete set
of 2009 cents? You would have some copper P/D sets that were
satin, since they came in the mint set. There you would have
some that were not satin, that came from other sources.

Am I thinking correctly, or was it ONLY the 'mint set' cents
that were copper? Which would mean that ALL copper 2009 P/D
cents were satin... ? The mint's wording was that all "collector"
versions were copper, which leads me to believe there were
copper cents available outside the 'mint sets'. And since the
'mint sets' were the only coins to get the satin finish, those
'other' collector coppers would not be satin.

Sorry so wordy, but trying to make my though process clear.

Anyone know how that works out?

Hmmm... I knew about the 20 for sure.
I was wondering if it might actually be 28, if the mint offerings
of "collector" cents, outside the mint set, were not satin finish,
which was supposed to ONLY pertain to coins in mint sets specifically.

Still remain to be convinced one way or another on that one.

Didn't the mint sell these in sets outside of the mint sets?

What collector sets are we talking about outside of the mint sets ?
4 different Lincoln Scenes, 8 in the mint set = Satin Bronze, 4 in the Proof set = Proof Bronze, 4 in the Silver Proof set = Proof Bronze (same coins that are in the regular proof set, so not really a different version), and 8 business strikes = Non Satin Zinc/Copper.

The only other sets sold by the mint were the 2009 Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set and the separate 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Proof Set. These both were Proof Bronze

All I could recall is that there were a great many sets available at the time.
Now that you name them off, assuming you got them all, you are correct that
most were of the proof variety. Did they not sell a set of the cents alone?
I know the rolls, even though classified as "numismatic", which was supposed
to mean "copper", were in fact zinc. So those are out.

They were all satin finish, whether in the full annual mint set, or the eight coin Lincoln mint set.
