is scanning an option as far as uploading images for grading opinions?

Scanning shows details real well but has a hard time showing things like luster. Scanning doesn't really portray how a coin looks in hand.

Depends on the scanner or photo. I have a good HP scanner that picks up coins' details really while including coppers. I have seen photos of coins that were good and some that were awful. Depends on the scanner or camera and the dpi settings. You can set the DPI setting high on a scanner and get a really good pic showing things you can't see with the naked eye but it will take a while.

Personally, I do not like, nor do I have any success in judging a coin's grade from a scanned image when the coin is at least an MS60 grade.

For lower circulated grades, scanning is OK.

IMO the worst part of scanning is the inability to control the lighting.
Otherwise a scanner that can do up to 1200 dpi works quite well.

If you just want to show your coin, I'd say yes. Most TPG graders only use a 5x-7x loop to verify opinions of coins in hand. Well, that's what I've been told by graders I've talked to at different shows.

If you're trying to highlight a problem or a detail, the scanner just does not provide the best picture. Even an inexpensive digital camera gives better detail.

Another option for you might be an inexpensive digital microscope/camera that plugs into a USB port on your computer. I just got one at the FUN show and now I don't have to pull out my big stereo microscope every time I want to check out potential coin problems or shoot one for posting.

Good enough for a wear grade usually, not enough to understand the surfaces fully. If you know it's a problem-free coin, should do just fine.
