I found two of these coins in my Grandfather's coin collection ( inherited). I was looking to get as much information about them as I can, and if possible determine whether they are genuine or replicas. I've uploaded pictures of one of the coins, if needed I can upload a picture of the other also. Thank you for the help!

At first glance looks cast, ie not a genuine mint issue - but wait for people who have more knowledge of that series to comment.

It is, sadly, a replica. "1736" is a very commonly encountered replica of these pieces; Whenever you find a "1736" cob-style piece, you can start from the assumption that it's one of these. Do a forum search for "1736 Spanish" and you'll find several more, such as this one and the coppery-coloured one in this thread. You can apparently buy them at Disney World, amongst other pirate-themed places.

Well that's unfortunate! I think it's still pretty cool though. Is there a possibility that this coin might still be fairly old, and if so is there a way of finding out when it might have been produced? I've tried to find the replica Disney produced to make sure this wasn't the same, but no luck. Thank you for all of your help!

This particular replica is still being made by Coin Replicas:

So the original dies were likely the work of the mid-20th-century master replica-maker, Peter Rosa. Yours seems to be a much cruder rendering, though, perhaps coated with a heavy plating after the fact.
