A little unusual, but quite OK.
I collect World coins, all ages. There is a huge variation in patina in coins of this age range, in my collection.

That is a very pretty Half Cent. The colour does not look off in any way to me.

Considering both sides it looks around XF-40. Tone looks normal and eye appealing.

It looks normal for a copper coin of this age. I think that this type is also very hard to find in a problem free grade. I give this one an XF-45.

Very nice coin!

After collecting copper since the mid 80s I've seen all kinds of colors and hues, natural and artificial. The little sister shown is a little uneven as far as color but IMHO it's totally natural. Awesome coin I'd say it's an EF-40 but as far a Cohen variety I'm leaning towards C-3.

Copper reacts in different ways to different types of exposures. I think its fine and is stronger than 40. I grade it at 45

Well I'm glad I posted here before buying. I'd never have thought that was normal coloring/patina. Just goes to show how much of a beginner I am.
