Since there were so much excitement over the CoinFest in Connecticut, I am sharing the same excitement with those on the West Coast, so here it goes.

For those on the West Coast (California), there are some coin shows in the upcoming months.

1) Long Beach Coin Convention (http://www.longbeachshow.com/) on September 27 to September 29 - I guess everyone know about this one...
- $6 admission for 3 days, if you have coupon then it's $2 off or free if you can/want to pick up a used pass from the trash can....
- Parking is about $6 or $8 (I forgot)

2) Contra Costa Coin Show (http://www.diablocoinclub.org/show.html) on October 13 and 14 - This is more like a local coin show...
- $2 admission for 2 days, $1 off with coupon
- Parking is FREE

3) Santa Clara Coin Show (http://www.santaclaraexpo.com/) - on November 16 to 19
- $6 admission for 4 days ($2 coupon discount if you go to the link below and look in the detail section - under "EXPOS UNLIMITED - SANTA CLARA COIN, STAMP & COLLECTIBLES EXPO)
- Parking is FREE

If you have the time and money and want to go to more coin shows then here is the link from SJ Coin Club that list them all for the bay area and surrounding for October 2007 to September 2008: http://www.sanjosecoinclub.org/Area...tml#_OCTOBER

***Make sure to scroll down to see the listing. Some of the show have discount coupons.....

Now I have 2 questions for everyone on the West Coast: 1) Which shows are you going to and WHY? 2) Which shows are you not going to and WHY?

My own answers: I am going to Long Beach (because I went there last in June and I will visit my girl friend too), Contra Costa (because it's local), Santa Clara (just want to see if it's as big as Long Beach), and may be some local coin show in the Bay Area (following Carl recommendations - cheaper = better). I will not go to any "National Coin Show" or one that require me to travel long distance, because just like Carl said "I am cheap" - I rather spend my money on coins than pay for all those other cost.

Thanks all for reading.
Bruce

PS: I just pass my probation (50+ posts) and now eligible to trade..... yay

I'm going to Long Beach - because it's local - and because its cheap.

Where do I get the coupon - so it can be even cheaper?

Well, last time I went to Long Beach and I filled out a sign up form at the front desk and then they sent me the flyier/coupon.

When are you going? I'll be in Orange County Friday night (I'm going there on Saturday) & I can give you a copy.... or maybe I can scan it and email it to you (after I get my $60 Samsung multipurpose scanner to work.)

Or you can wait at the front door and wait for people to leave and ask them for their used pass....

Why can't there be this many shows in Utah?

I'll be attending the annual Fresno Numismatic Society show on 10/27 and 10/28 because that's my local coin club and I promised to take a turn running the front desk! I can almost always find something I like at this show.

I love the Long Beach show, but by the time I pay for round-trip gas, parking, and admission, it ends up costing me about $75 just to get in the door. Will I find something great at Long Beach that makes that extra cost worthwhile? Or, should I just use that cash to buy more coins locally? Decisions, decisions....

Hello arthrene,

Sorry, I don't know of any coin show in Utah, since I don't live near by. But I think you can look online and find some....

Hi Jaobler,

May be you should save that $75 and go to Santa Clara, which is a shorter distance, less gas, lower admission fee, free parking ===> the extra money that you saved can be spent on coins.....

I have looked. I haven't had much luck. I think I found one in October or something but California has one once a month. I don't know maybe I just haven't looked in the right places.
