So the year has come when the Jackie Kennedy $10 first spouse coin will be issued, from what I understand they've bumped the maximum mintage up to 30,000 coins due to expected high demand. Many of the other series have actualized mintages in the low thousands. Despite the mint tripling the mintage limit, I still think this one could sell out (i expect the TV pushers will buy thousands of these things). If it does sellout I expect it will be rather easy to make a few quick bucks flipping. What do ya'll think? -XoG

I feel that Jackie's coin will be the best & fastest selling First-Spouse coin in the series.

Don't forget, the bulk program of the US mint offers a 5% discount on 1st spouse gold coins if you qualify.
That particular coin is on the radar but locking up $700-800 in 1 coin is hard. The mint has cranked out a special finish coin the last few years and they'll probably do it again this year so I'd wait and see what develops. That series is frustrating because it has some wonderful designs but $700-800 times 4 yearly coins is out of a lot of people's budget and I believe hinders the popularity of the series.

The whole series (IMHO) feels more like a lackluster gimmick than a legitimate investment opportunity, tailored to collectors who have more money than brains (following suit with some recent RCM products). What's next? Glow-in-the-Dark Presidential Dog Dollars!

What's next? Glow-in-the-Dark Presidential Dog Dollars! I completely agree. It's just another way to get a little more business from people. But glow-in-the-dark coins are sometimes interesting! Particularly cool are the Canadian 25 cent glow-in-the-dark dinosaur series coins. I have one and it is among my favorite non-precious metal coins.

Quote: I feel that Jackie's coin will be the best & fastest selling First-Spouse coin in the series That would be a hard feat to accomplish. Before the series began you could do a subscription for them and the first issue was completely sold out via subscription before they ever went on sale. (When that happened the mint cancelled all the subscription orders. Even then the first issue of 40K coins sold out in a matter of hours.

You could look for key dates. I look for key dates, fill holes in my album, and sell the rest on ebay. I sold 16.2 pounds of Wheat cents and got a little over $80 + shipping.

At some point in the future, if people ever do start collecting the series seriously, they are going to realize that almost every issue in the series (except the popular ones) are keys. In the future the lowest cost pieces will be the first four, the bust of Liberty, Kennedy, and maybe Elenor. A lot of these have mintages of around 3K or less.
