I have an Hüpstedt 10 pfennig, eightsided, no year, "Gewerkschaft Hüpstedt" - " * Hüpstedt * "
and was wondering if year, mintage and price is mentioned in Funcks catalog?

I'm probably going to buy one myself but I'm curious to know if the "pow camp coins" are included in the same book?

Hello zypronix,

A couple of notes on Notgeld tokens and the various catalogs, I see you are from Sweden, the Funck catalog is German language as is the Menzel book, the Upton and Lamb catalogs are English language. The Menzel catalog, although in German, is quite easy to understand, and does have listings of the POW camp coins and other non-municipal issue, including the streetcar tokens, as does the Upton book. I personally use the Lamb guide, since it is in English and very easy to use, but it does only cover the municipal issues. Some downsides with many of these as far as pricing is some of these have been out of print for decades.

Now, as far as the piece you have mentioned, I only have the Lamb book with me, and it is not listed in there, nor could I find anything listed in a quick search of a couple of dealer's archives, if you could post a photo I may be able to do a bit of further research. Is it a zinc piece or iron? It is also unlikely there will be a mintage listed in any of the guides, most of the mintages are unofficial at best, and for some issues, there are very few records of sale to be able to get an accurate comparable.

A couple of years ago I purchased a large Notgeld collection and they have been among my favorite coins to have owned and researched.

Nice find Medieval, thank you!

jdmern, maybe the Menzel book would be a better choice for me then, I only thought of Funck because of the funck-reference number they all use in auctions and on info sites.
I have too recently bought a medium sized collection of these and with the ones I already had makes it a challenge to research them all.
Half of them are pow camps and private like the one I was asking about (though I thought it was a official state coin at first) but without a book its near impossible to know on some of them...
