Hello everyone, after using this forum to help determine what type of coins I have or thought I had. I finally decided to post one of my own.
I came across this 1968 penny and can't tell if there is a mint mark error or what.when first glanced at it looks like dirt where the mint mark should be. So I looked closer and closer. To my untrained eye it looks like two S's. My girl thinks I'm seeing things, I'm new here and would appreciate any advice.

but your girl is probably right. There is no S on this coin and it is a Philadelphia mint with a spot of corrosion.

Thank you for your info. I hope for the best but expect the worst. I thought it was either corrosion or some kind of weird error. Much appreciated.
Rest in Peace

I think that pesky corrosion IS shaped like two S's. LOL

Keep hunting.

Thank you... It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one seeing the S from corrosion... Thanks for the input.
