Hi folks. I wonder if you ca assist me on a puzzle. I have a Cook Island proof $5 1977 . I am guessing its part of the endangered species series. However whilst weight and Diameter are spot on its only listed as being struck in silver and has edge inscription. I have no reason to doubt its authenticity. Everything about it is as you would expect fronm a prrof. I can see the very fine over lap where the multiple strikes hhave landed. But this looks more like Copper-Nickel and has a reeded edge and not an inscription. Any ideas where I can find out if there was maybe a proof-set with this in it?
Thanks Fuzzy. I guess it could be a description error. Although NGC syas its edge lettering too. If I see a few more then I will take it as not a rare event lol
