I posted this coin earlier this week and it was quickly dismissed, I think its because of the photos.. But I'm still not convinced. The date has been flattened some. But I can match up all the die scratches. Ive been using a x17 magnifier and can see all of them. If these photos aren't good enough or someone needs a different angle I can do that.

Trisa, looking at you new pictures this is interesting but, the person, "Coop", who made the dismissal is considered the best here at CCF.

I don't think it is the same as the one on coppercoins (1937D-1DO-004) based on the location of the mintmark. on your coin the mintmark appears to be lower than on the coin on coppercoins.com. Your coin shows the top of the D below the tail of the 9, while on coppercoins, it show the mintmark higher than the bottom of the 9. Based on that I don't think it's from the same set of dies.

However, it is noted on the coppercoins website that this may be a form of master die doubling, which could appear on other sets of dies (similar to the master die doubling of 1972). So it is possible that this is what you have. It is hard for me to tell in the photos if the eyelid is doubled. In the first two it looks damaged, in the third, maybe I see something, but hard to tell.

Dont get me wrong, I'm thankful that he took the time to look at it and I respect his opionion. But I just nneeded to go with my gut on this one and wanted to see if I could get a second opinion. ☺

Trisa, I have looked at your earlier thread and the MM location didn't match with the doubled die. The D is much too low and too far to the right on your coin.
