Maybe, what is a little odd though is that the certificate does not indicate a certifying agency nor is dated.

The coin is obviously excavated or salvaged, the certificate is of course not something one can verify, but
in the 1980s many similar certificates were issued, barely containing any significant data, which would bind
the coin to the piece of paper.

Considering the condition of the coin and its appearance one can assume, that this coin belongs to the certificate.

Therefore I would consider this a nice addition if the price was not high.

This appears to be a Rodolphe II Zwolle escalin ca 1590-1610.

A 5g silver coin, probably not worth more than $5 in this condition. I've purchased Dutch shipwreck-corroded rijders which are not attributed to a specific wreck. They usually are priced below uncorroded coins even if close to uncirculated otherwise. The attribution of your escalin may be accurate, but I don't think anyone would pay a premium for a coin packaged in this way. This coin seems 150 years too early for a 1747 shipwreck date, but it's possible.

Nice to follow the discussion
actually it is an escalin or Arendschelling from Zwolle but from 1557-1619 reign of Mathias II

These (even old ones) were withdrawn from circulation and shipped to
Batavia by VOC either for payment to employees etc. or melting to be recoined.
See the finds of other VOC ships like Merestein sunk off South Africa in 1702

The weight is of course 3.5 grams taking into account the site of the Reijgersdaal wreckage which I just visited
However the coin has its historic value assuming the certificate is genuine
The back inscription at least indicates it coming from an auction
definitely acquired at a reasonable price.

lucky you took it a bit reluctant - thanks
I purchased it with confidence
