Here my last cleaning effort:

Attribution-Confirmation-Wanted,-Byzantine Attribution-Confirmation-Wanted,-Byzantine

By what I can see from Wildwinds, I assume it is Sear#1922 from Alexius I.
Unfortunately cannot find my copy of Sear's book (hopefully not lost), so I cannot check in the neighbourhood.

My coin is ~15mm, so is my assumption right? Other coins seem to confirm that the portrait is Alexius I (eg Sear#1930) and this is the only type with Christ seated on the obverse I can find.

Any comment welcome.

Your attribution is correct it's an AE tetarteron of Alexius I SB-1922.

'chrsmat71', in hand it looks far nicer than from these scans before soaking could not be sure if it was Byzantine or Kushan.
Thanks 'echizento', was pretty confident but without my hand held references I am not fully confident with such a confusing series.

It is a rarer byzantine Tetarteron after the coin reform of Alexius I, It was minted in Constantinople and it will have a small amount of silver ( about 3%). The coins from the city are much harder to find than the coins minted at other mints. I have three in my collection now ,I have been collecting them for about 15 years, they come to market only once or twice a year. I am new to this board but I specialize in this denomination.
