okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5589 Posts	Posted 04/16/2015 05:08 am There are many repunched N's with good offset for the 1881's. The mint had to use 1876 masters/hubs to make all the working dies and the '76's all had single-serif N's (the left foot was missing inside half). EVERY working die had to be handpunched to make full serif N's out of the singles and there are some terribly mangled dies that resulted with huge mismatches. One lightly used 1881 die snuck through and struck a few single-serif 1881's. Report this Post to the Staff

Hounddog Bill Pillar of the Community Canada 1222 Posts	Posted 04/20/2015 1:22 pm I agree with JeyRey2000 the coin that collector67 has shown is one of the more dramatic re-punches. I've found this one to be much harder to come by then the Triple punched "N" coin shown in the first photos. Collector67 I believe if you look at the "N" in Canada you will find it also has a distinctive prepunch on the left foot. I could be wrong as there's not much to go on but I think you'll find your coin to be the same as on Page 306 of the 65 Edition of Charlton 2011. Cheers, SIC Report this Post to the Staff
