As a casual observer, it appears to me that 1861-O Seated halves have significantly increased in price in the past several months. I've not noticed a similar change in other Seated Half dates. Does anyone have a current and older Greysheet to see if this observation is correct? Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just my imagination?

I've always been interested in the 1861-Os for their unique historical significance, so I pay a bit more attention to this date when browsing e-bay and online coin dealers.

It is becoming more widely known that the 1861-O halves can now be identified as to which government struck them. This is probably causing an increase in the interest for them. I still need one struck by the Confederacy for my one per country collection.

Conder,

You wouldn't happen to know of an online source of information for a attributing 1861-O halves, would you? I've got a couple, purchased at least 5 years ago. I'd love to know which government was in charge when they were minted.

Sorry as far as I know the information isn't available online. The best you might be able to do is to write the Sec/Treasurer of the Liberty Seated Collectors Club and see if they have any extra copies of issue 94 and 97 still available. for sale. (Don't count on it.) His email address can be found here http://www.lsccweb.org/Home_Page.php

If you can take good quality images of your coins I may be able to identify who made them.
