1701
Token, gaming counter or toy coin
It is a replica of a gold Guinea of the UK
Propably made by Lauer from Nurnberg.
I found a similar one, made in the UK, but the legend is different: http://webapps.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk...p?oid=158460
I have also the one in the above link, dated 1789 and 1790.
A nice site for these replica's is this:

Here is mine:

Date is not in the reing of king George III : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg...ited_Kingdom
Any help to find the correct reference is welcome

Whoever made that token didn't know their history too well. George II assumed the throne in 1727. The king in 1701 was William III.

@Numisma:
Yes I know.
That is why I gave the links.
And the legend does not fit with the real ones.
I think the name of the maker is somewhere in the legend.

Nice grano!!

Well, technically it started today with 1700. That whole pesky "no year zero" messing things up.

I am gonna slide this 1700 in since no one has posted 1699 yet.
Sorry I have not been around much lately.. traveling and my 'other hobby' have been soaking up all my spare time. That plus trying to keep up with fall yard clean-up. Anyway.. ,,

Every world collection needs a 'wildman' coin, right? ?
