What a wonderful selection of commemorative half dollars for 1936! Mind you, for a US collector that year it must have been like it is today for someone trying to maintain a complete set of all Isle of Man and Gibraltar coins! To start off 1935, here's a 50% silver British George V sixpence designed by Kruger Gray, with six acorns. This attractive design was only used from 1927-36, and is unusual in that the date shows the letters A.D. for Anno Domini: In 1991 this design of sixpence was shown on a British stamp, from a set showing 'Good Luck Symbols' - but the sixpence on the stamp was dated 1991 - twenty years since decimalisation and 11 years since sixpences were demonetised! The choice of this design shows that even after all this time it was still recognised by the public as a 'typical' sixpence.

1935 Hudson half dollar: (Scanned-in film print) Note: I was in Hudson, NY a couple of days ago -- the local (and US) whaling industry just isn't what it used to be.

Quite a few commemoratives in 1935 too. Connecticut Tercentenary By the way the Hudson shown earlier is considered one of the three keys to the series.
