Watching this on auction ending soon. It's a little different color than I'm used to seeing, and it's extremely clean?

Looks like xf40 or maybe higher?

Grade?

Thanks.

I was afraid of that. That sandy reddish look on the reverse sort of hints at it to me. And some halo around the stars. What a shame. Looks like it would be a really nice coin aside from that.

I think I will pass...

Too much porosity, I'd avoid it and search for a cleaner piece. They want way too much for this considering it's a problem coin.

Sold for $90.

I suppose I would pay that for the coin (if it was problem free).

$90 way too much for even a clean piece.

Really Celtic? For an 1843 in xf? I have trouble finding them in the early dates in decent condition. Aside from the problems with cleaning and porosity, I thought this was a great looking coin - worth around $90.

I guess it's all about patience huh? hehe...

They're out there. 43 is a tough year but some sellers ask way too much.
$75 would be more appropriate IMHO but you really need to take it on a coin by coin basis. Don't get so stuck on grade either. I'd rather have a really clean VF-30 over a problematic EF-40. Just my opinion.
