Hello! I found this penny today while CRH, and I'm new to this hobby and have never seen a struck though grease coin before. I was wondering if you could tell me if this is stuck though grease, or explain what this error is. Also, how much would a coin like this be worth? Thanks!
Hi Child - a distant shot but I think you've called it. Looks like grease filled the upper devices and caused the details to wash out. From what I can see, that's a fairly common Greaser with light affect. As you CRH, you are bound to find greasers where details are missing or really washed out. I like the coins, but value isn't significant until you find one where both sides are affected and major detail is lost. Coop has a specimen of epic proportions that he'll probably drop into this thread. Here's one of mine as an example - probably only worth a couple of bucks to a limited group of collectors.
