I have tried to ID this coin for some time. It has been cleaned, measured, and weighed, and I still have no idea where to start with it.

Can anyone help me please with their thoughts?

It is AE 27 x 3.5 mm, and it weighs 12.2 gm

Because I do not know which angle is 'up' I have taken a number of 'shots' hoping that one may spark a thought in someone. (The last photo is of the reverse.)

It probably can do with some more cleaning.
In my opinion the last picture shows the obverse and is potentially the head of a city-goddess.
On the other pictures, which in my opinion is the reverse, there seems to be a standing figure which would make picture five to have the right rotation.

What rotation do you think for the last picture to correctly represent the city goddess?

N.B. I cleaned it as best as I could, and then I sent the coin to England for further cleaning.

IMHO, this coin is way too far gone for identification.

Maybe, the reverse resembles an eagle. Early Greek?

Med. I have taken photo #1 and I have rotated it to simulate #5 and I can see the standing figure.
Does this help?

Large-Bronze-Coin-For-ID---What-Can-You-See?

What rotation of the final (obverse?) photo should I show?

It looks like a byzantine coin with Christ on front with the ledgend on the reverse.

It's just too corroded to make out any details, I don't think any amount of cleaning is going to make a big difference.

I thank you ALL very much for the input.

I shall add it into the too hard basket.

Thank-you, again.

We do, Chris.

Well travelled coin this.
From the Continent to the UK, then to Australia.
Back to the U.K., and then back to Oz! I wonder what happens to its 'Frequent Flyer' miles?
