Guess what you have? A finger print on your coin. The lines will accumulate until all the surface turns brown. Then you have a brown coin. The copper will not look original again.

And its due to the discoloration the beard and hair look different than a normal coin? How does such a print occur? Ive never left a print on a coin simply by handling it through normal courses, is it some type of ink? It looks so funny ----- Abe Lincoln as The Joker :-)I really appreciate your taking time with my questions btw

I've always assumed that someone touched it with dirty hands, and whatever is on the person's hand transfers to the coin and reacts with the metal. The print doesn't appear instantly but over time.

Actually it is the salt in the sweat/mucus/sneeze droplets/saliva/oils that discolors finger print coins.
Here is a cent I put saliva on certain areas of the obverse:

I always wondered if children putting coins in their mouth affect the coins. Now I know it turns them a darker deep red. I always wondered what caused that and now I know.
