Here is an 1809 brass calendar token by Kempson & Kindon who were Birmingham "toymen" or makers of small brass objects. No doubt after 1809 when it was obsolete, it was converted into a "buzzer" or child's toy. I understand the earliest such calendar token is for the year 1658? Early calendar tokens helped match sun time with clock time. Georgian era tokens issued after 1751 helped with the switch from Old Time to New Time. This particular token was picked up at the Old Quaker Burial Grounds in Alexandria by a youngster who spotted it back near the turn of the twentieth century. Included are his original drawings to help show what the token says.
