Hi guys I don't know if this is the norm but I have 2 1961 Dollars. But the the dude in the back of the boat has different grips on the paddle. Making one closer to the actual blade of the paddle itself. Some difference it date placings and the canoe sitting more proud than before. Is this a know variety?.Interested to hear your thoughts

I think the hand on paddle differences are just illusions caused by a combo of both wear and strike, the canoe line is known for being weak.

If you look at his nuckle its amost touching the water. on the first coin its way above. Also look at the indian in the first coin his gaze is sideways and in the second his eyes are set forward. Also the second canoe is on clam water . First canoe almost looks like its going across the current the way the wave ripples are flowing

Not seeing it, different lighting, different sizes,
one zoomed out a bit further than the other.
You have two 1961 dollars. Enjoy.

I second SilverDon. I was just about to comment on the different pic sizes you have. Not to mention the lighting on your coins are skewing the picture results to what you're wanting to see.

any difference is just strike, die ware or circulation caused, there was only one hub for silver dollars reverse dies which would make it impossible for true variations in spacing besides date spacing.

The knuckles are slightly closer to the water level on the second coin.
Just a minor variation in working dies.

Perhaps Nickelsguy and SPP would like to chime in on that one.

Matrix re engraved ,strengthening design elements in 1960 , further retouching done in 1961. There are no known major reverse die variations of the 1961 dollar save for die clashing (minor ) resulting in the so called Arrowhead single and double. Me thinks you are seeing things that just are not there. You have a pair of common circulated dollars of 1961.
