Vancouver IslandCoinKid Forum Kid Canada 1074 Posts	Posted 01/25/2015 6:42 pm I am wondering, what happens to the Dies that are used by both the Winnipeg and Ottawa locations. Have people ever gotten there hands on them? What are values? What does the mint do with them broken or not. I know I have seen some U.S die equipment before. Altaira Pillar of the Community Canada 2519 Posts	Posted 01/25/2015 7:16 pm Pretty sure they would be defaced, if they were being released to the pulic intact then everyone will be making their own "money". That wouldn't be very good for the economy, the RCM, and collectors (not necessarily in that order). The closest thing to actual intact dies I've ever seen privately owned are actual dies, but whatever is on the face has been ground down to stump. Report this Post to the Staff

Neverhteless, I can see no reason why mints around the World should not be able to market deliberately defaced worn out dies to the collector. Report this Post to the Staff
