I am looking through the contents of a small hoard of change, mostly cents, that a friend of the family found in her garage. It's nothing big at all, but there are a few rolls of circulated Canadian cents that are labeled "Canada 1920s to date". I have yet to even open them up, because I don't really know what I am looking at. Could I get someone to give me a short list of "better dates" that I might look out for? Maybe the top 5 key dates?
Also, what year do 100% copper cents end?
Thanks! Dave

Ratio411 To answer one of your questions, the last copper coin was minted in 1996. From 1997 to 2001, they were copper plated zinc. From 2002-2012, production was split between the above & copper & nickel plated steel which are known as "magnetic"pennies.
PS-There are no 100% Cdn copper coins. They are all between 95.5% and 98% depending on the year.

Also to note, all KGV pennies are worth money (1920 - 36) hard to find and easy to sell.

Thanks guys! This will help a great deal. I'll probably go through them tomorrow. If I find anything I'll let you know.

i hope you keep anything pre 1960, and if not interested for yourself offer them up for trade? other than the key dates you find that are worth something.
