I'm scoping out this 1827 Bust Half on ebay. Any one have strong opinions on grade? I have a couple of dumpy looking bust halls that I'd like to sell off and get this one. Sorry about the absence of pictures but I use my smart phone to access this site.

This seller seems to have plenty of lower grade coins for sale, definitely an easy way to fill in holes in your collection. This coin is looks like VF details to me, definitely cleaned. they surfaces are kind of rough, almost like potholes on a street. I would look for a better coin IMO

This seller is pretty good at depicting exactly what you get; it's up to the buyer to see cases like this where the coin has obviously been cleaned (the reverse of this coin is unequivocal) and walk away when the seller's rep forces the auction above an acceptable price. As has happened here.

VF30 Details

Unfortunately it's been cleaned.

If you're O.K. with the cleaning and the price, go for it. Personally however, I would move on.

If you buy things on Sunday you tend to over pay becuase everybody and their brother is buying Sunday evening. On the other hand allot of quality pieces are auctioned off on Sunday

VF-25/30 details, harshly cleaned and re-toned. I'd suggest passing on this coin and finding a nice problem free VF if that is your goal.

Many sellers end their auctions on Sunday between 7:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. From the seller's point of view they're just trying to maximize profit which is what they're in business to do. Don't knock them for that. I've bought a large cent from this seller before with no issues although this particular coin is undesirable in my opinion.
