Hard to say for sure, but i'd assume its not. Even collectors in canada know that if the coin is older than 1900 they probably have a rare US coin... However, there is a 7 day money back guarntee

Quote: Even collectors in canada Don't be too sure that every world coin collector is aware of what the local value of such a coin is. Having said that, don't forget that the bidding hasn't ended.

Sure, there's a chance. What do the surrounding coins (I'm unfamiliar) say about the size and therefore denomination of the US coin? I'd find a Half somewhat plausible.

I know for a fact that many world lots contain Classic US coins. I know, my buddy finds Colonials for me all the time :-)

The thing is with this seller (search this forum, there's lots about him) is that even though it doesn't look like it from the listings, they know their stuff. Even looking at the lots of world coins there is one "random" larger coin that looks like it could be valuable in some lots (I had been seeing Chinese dollars previously). I'd be very surprised if this was real (not that he's known for counterfeits) or problem free, but the return policy is there, so it may be worth the risk for someone who knows what they're doing. I just have a feeling the winning bidder won't know what they're doing.

I've heard things about the seller...my bet is counterfeit.

Browsing the seller's inventory, I'd venture it's not genuine. Last year, a buddy of mine found what appeared to be a CN Three Cent piece, proof issue, in a lot of world coins. It proved to be a Chinese counterfeit. Slipping the counterfeits into group lots of minor coins likely boosts profits for the hawkers. What collector doesn't wish to make a great find and have an interesting story to pass along. After all, the odds are probably better than the lottery.

Selling counterfeits as real coins is not permitted on ebay, Even though you can return it. If you post it hear and people tell you it is fake, ebay will give your money back and it is ebay's new policy on "item not as described" cases, the seller has to provide free return shipping.
