I have been trying to find a match without success for this coin which I believe to be Philip I,
Weight 13.87g

I have found a math for the obverse but the reverse has me confused, all of the examples I have found show the eagle standing on the word " Antioxia "
Whereas my coin is standing on a simple line with a monogram between the eagles legs, I cant find this reverse anywhere and was wondering if you have seen it before ?
TIA.

It's from Syria, re the reverse compare "Prieur 282" on the Gordian III page from Wildwinds.
Or "Prieur 312" from Philip I, but from thee obverse inscription it might not be Philip I.

I not sure it's Philip I, wish I could make out the obverse legend I can only see a few of the letters. If you can make them out can you post them?

I suspect it might be Volusian, with the obverse inscription starting "AVTOK K G OV...", going to check in Sear(GIC).

Postscript:

Couldn't find the specific obverse inscription, but there is quite a variety for Volusian - might need a detailed search for the specific obverse/reverse combination, perhaps BMC 20 has it.

Thanks for the replies
The obverse legend reads
AYTOKKTOY( next 3 hard to see )EBCANN( FUNNY N )possibly O
The last couple I cant make out unfortunately.
AYTOKKTOY_ _ _ABCANNO_ _ _
The 1st y might be a V.
Sorry about the capital letters.

Don't see a T after AVTOK K but rather a Gamma. After further analysis I suspect it to be Trebonianus Gallus with obeverse inscription " AYTOK K G OYIB TPEB GALLOC CЄB" and have a look at "Prieur 676" and especially "SNG Cop 290".

Some of those letters don't look right. It might be Volusian as Med said but I can't say for sure.

Hadrian used a similar Eagle on the reverse of some of his coins?

I hope you don't mind me waiting until later to continue this folks but its 2.30am here now and I do need lots of beauty sleep.
Medieval looks to have nailed the legend so I will check the links over breakfast.
Something to look forward to in the morning.
Thanks all.

And you claim to have difficulty with portraits on provincials. What can I say? Luckily I am quite okay with reading legends.

Neither are mine! 10 years ago I used 5 pitch (as opposed to standard 12 pitch) in my printed coin lists, but age caught up with me. But experience with a lot with different scripts helps when trying to decipher inscriptions. But there is a limit, will have to post a few coins when soaking is finished to gain the support of the portrait specialists.

Good morning all
From the 2 options given by Medieval to look at I would say " cop290" is as close a match without being identical.
The only things that are different are the monogram & the weight, the one on " wildwinds " weighs less than 10g which seems quite low to me as mine weighs over 13g.
I appreciate all the help and effort from you chaps, I would still be stuck thinking it was the " Arab "
This coin is just 1 of a bundle that I purchased and there are others I am having trouble with also, I hope you don't mind me posting a couple more over the next few days.
Thanks again.
