I could use a few opinions on this coin. It yells MS with all the luster obverse and reverse and full horn. But it appears to be a soft strike S mint and lacks details, or is it wear?

Opinions? Thanks, RK

I'm no expert on this , but if it's not the softest strike I've ever seen on a buffalo; then
it's worn ,cleaned and lightly polished. what's throwing me off is a worn buffalo usually has
worn letters obv. and rev. this one does not.

I have to believe it's Mint State. The horn/hair and the highest point of the shoulder look pristine.

MS-63, typical weak strike for this date and mint.

You're correct RK55, it's a weak strike.

As someone already mentioned, a weak strike is very common for this year and mint.

The luster on these can vary from O.K. to awesome. Ones with a great strike and luster are very scarce.

Anyway, IMHO, this coin has great luster, weak strike, and a few ticks on both sides. Overall I would grade it MS63.

Note: If you're thinking of having it slabbed, the TPG services put little emphasis on weak strikes.
