I have around 100 world coins I'd like to submit for grading. I tried emailing NGC but didn't get a reply, does anyone know the best rates I'd get from PCGS or NGC? Are there any other reputable options?

Unless they are mostly the same coin and date, you will not qualify for a bulk rate. For PCGS, it's a minimum of 100 coins, with a maximum of 5 different

I would suggest ICCS, they are cheaper than other companies per coin and they have bulk rates aswell.

I'm at a loss to understand why you'd want to do such a thing. Few place any importance on slabs for World issues - not like American issues - and the US TPG's aren't the most reliable when it comes to them. If you had to choose, I'd lean NGC's direction. They seem to be working harder than PCGS to get World coins right. And as has been mentioned, 100 coins isn't enough to warrant a discount.

I would have to disagree with you ssuperddave. There are more and more world collectors who are collecting their coins in plastic. From the conversations I've had, this is for 2 reasons:

1. The massive amount of counterfeits coming out of China
2. The Registry Set Game

It is not just American collectors of world coins who are getting their items graded, and there are certain countries where the idea of grading has caught on,, though certainly not in England and Germany.

I think PCGS and NGC realize that this is where their future exists (see PCGS Europe/Asia).

Like it or not, that I believe to be the future of world numismatics...

Thanks for the replies, I guess ICCS would be the most affordable option by a margin. I just wasn't sure if ICCS was recognized as reputable outside of Canada.

If you must have them in plastic, I would go with NGC. PCGS is still in a pretty steep learning curve for non-USA coinage. Also, except in Australia (where PCGS is very popular for some reason), if a non-USA coin is in plastic, NGC graded coins are preferred by world collectors.

As has already been stated, the UK and Germany are still particularly anti-slab, but China, Russia, India, and Brazil come to mind as locations that are starting to readily accept and offer USA-based TPG graded/authenticated coins.

Unless there's a really good reason to have them slabbed, I'd probably either personally leave them raw, or only pick out the particularly exceptional among the 100 and submit maybe 20 or so instead. Unless the coins are valued at $300 or more, the trade off of putting a $30+ piece of plastic around the coin is pretty minimal.
