Thanks. The coloring on this will match the other 3 large cents I already have in my 7070.

N-5 R.1 Die variety. VF-30 sharpness EAC grade of 25. Sorry but I had to hit it 1 grade for the weak strike. Great coin none the less.

So N-5 can be reasonably expected to show a good strike, Celticsoul? As an R.1 from a mintage of ten million I guess the variety lasted a full die pair life, so it makes sense to prefer and expect good strikes. Of course it would materially affect EAC grading.

Nice factoid for future reference. Thanks.

I'm reading it as a fresher obverse die than reverse, though, at first glance. Considering the remaining potential of an older reverse die was part of my grading thinking.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I noticed the weak reverse but liked the strong obverse and coloring plus I have a thing for coins of the 1850's for some reason. I picked this up on ebay for $25 this past weekend and am looking forward to plugging another hole in my book!
