Yeah its Julian II. It was only 10 bucks so I figured "eh... why not? Could be worse." Like Pish this one is being held for me. Can't wait to receive it: In the names of Anastasius and Theodoric, Gepid Kingdom AR Quarter-Siliqua Obv: DN ANASTASIVS P AV (several letters retrograde), pearl-diademed, draped bust right Rev: INVICTA-AROMANA (blundered), monogram of Theodoric surrounded by legend, legend separated by cross above, star below Mint: Sirmium (struck 491-518 AD) Ref: Demo, 70-78 Size: 14 mm wide

What I really want is one of those siliquae that was heavily clipped by the Anglo-Saxons to match the size of their silver sceattas. Pish (or any other UK person), dig one up for me please?

My only siliqua: Julian II, Constantia (Arles) mint, reverse VOTIS V MVLTIS X in wreath, mintmark TCON. Some time ago I attributed it as RIC Arles 256. I'm afraid I don't know where "disfiguringly large flan cracks" fall on the points scale.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Here's my Valentinian I siliqua. It was my first siliqua purchased back in 2001. It's still my favorite.

It's my day off and we're still digging out after a blizzard yesterday, so I thought I'd photograph my other siliquae and show them off. This Constantius II from Lugdunum (RIC, Vol. VIII, #216) was found in a small group of uncleaned coins. I knew it was a siliqua when I saw it uncleaned. I sold the other coins, including a fouree Tiberius PONTIF MAXIM denarius, for a profit and kept the siliqua. It took over a month to clean by soaking it in distilled water and/or lemon juice and brushing with a nylon brush. I love the beautiful iridescent tone it has acquired since I finished working on it. Unfortunately, the tone doesn't show up well in the photos.

Here's my final siliqua, a lovely toned Julian II from Lugdunum (RIC, Vol. VIII, #218). I bought this one in 2004. I'm done, but thanks for letting me share.
