Has anyone dug cut silver, "pistareen" pieces like these which came from central Virginia colonial sites, back about twenty-five years ago? I am not asking about cobs, but only about round Spanish silver coins, or their pie-shaped pieces, made on roller dies. As near as I can tell, all such "sharp silver" coins found hereabouts, date no earlier than 1707 (Charles III the Pretender). Please disregard the two cut pieces-of-eight of much later vintage.
Please let me know if anyone metal detected in the U.S. any early, whole or cut Spanish silver coins (not a cob, not a copper, not a Spanish Colonial, but a "pistareen, half pistareen, or quartillo" from mainland Spain) issued under Spanish Kings Philip III, Philip IV, or Charles II (prior to 1700).
