Hey all, I found this quarter over the weekend in some Rolls I was searching, at first I thought maybe this was a proof coin, but after closer inspection I was dumbfounded.

My only 2 guesses would be some sort of planchet / minting issue or acid, however with acid you normally see the diameter and thickness shrink, and this coin is perfect.

Thoughts?

Acid dip, for a very short time. Not enough to cause a noticeable difference in diameter and thickness, just enough to pit the surface.

I agree on acid.
