Electrum, I think we agree, I am of the opinion that the Lakes set is a great addition to my collection regardless of the sales price at Silvertowne or CA. Makes no difference to me as I have a sentimental attachment to that area. So I paid full asking and will keep the set. What I said in my earlier post is that we should not care what others pay, just love the coin if you are a fan no matter what others have paid. But if I get a bargain on something I see as desirable, I get a real sense of satisfaction knowing I paid less than issue, maybe my Scottish roots. I purchased the six coins in the 2013 1/2 oz. O'Canada series and box on sale and am having fun filling in the holes at $29.90 per coin. So, remorse was maybe too strong a sentiment. Maybe envious of the good deal but not so much that it takes away from the enjoyment of the set. And Lake Huron is on the way so I should see all five in the box very soon.
Edit - nice display Yingyang, how much? Holds 38 mm in airtite?

Quote: I agree only sets should be sold but that hamstrings the seller, and Silveroid who wants only one or two of the 5 Cent 1 ounce series would miss out on some of that which he likes. Hard to make everyone happy. Absolutely correct, SilverDon. In case of the "Tribute to Nickel": Since it subscription, so I will miss a box, and will buy selective coins. But if RCM were deciding to sell it as set (like "Farewell to Penny"), I would buy it all andsave on something else.

Quote: This is the display box I will be using for the fish series. This is nice choice. I buy these boxes for some of my sets. But: why not the original one? Personally I prefer to avoid the "glass top" and buy same with wood top for two reasons: 1. Sacrifice the best display, but be sure that coins will not brake a glass - they are loose and heavy. 2. The wood top boxes has an "altered" space for COAs - adjusted to the inner side of the lid. So, that's the way that my "sub-set" of the Nickels will be: (here you see the Australian "dreaming" compilation, 40mm cons, same as 1oz Nickels):

I actually had the sub for the great lake, the first 2 coins and the case then I canceled. Just not sure if I will finish it or maybe just sell it and move on ,but like I said I dislike the Mint selling singles to subs but my dislike wont change that , but it does change how I spend my money , as far as sets are concerned .
I would not have bought the Silver proof colored flag set if the mint had of offered singles. Ya some sellers are breaking the sets and selling singles but that just means less full sets around which is good for the remaining sets.

Even the "broken" by buyer set will be included in the "final" mintage. And the fact that it was later broken, not published, means, no influence on the remaining sets. But any way - the full set valued more, than all the coins that it includes all together.

Well Ya while the actual mintage of the coins will stay the same, but there will be less full original sets available which "Could" influence the value of the full sets , depending on demand and availability etc etc as always.

I agree, Northencoins, so it availability plus demand factor (at least).

I would rather wait and get the fish coins for cheaper later on individually than subscribe and get a box. I have lots of boxes plus I like to store all my coins in one big box not 100 individual boxes haha

This thread has veered off the sport fish and towards those Great Lakes where those sport fish like to call home...so I guess that's alright. SilverDon, yes gotcha...we are in sync...love those Great Lakes, both the coins and the lakes themselves...respectively.

Looks like the Mint is out of sportfish subs. Of course plenty of individual coins are available via dealers.

Looks like the box will be the "hot" item, since the coins still available. Have you noticed, that first time, the Mint hasn't distributed single coins in the subscription. (I do not remember, was it similar with "Explorers", "Cougar" and "Maple Leaf" last year sets).

It wasn't with the "Explore Canada" series. Individual coins were available directly from the RCM. I ordered an individual Voyageurs coin.

Does seem odd not to offer the singles and I haven't seen the sub available from dealers.
