I'm thinking that maybe this is Greek? It looks like a face coming out at me... It's a tiny coin though.

It's a Roman denarius. Looks like Commodus . Though better pictures would help .

The legend is certainly in Latin script. Could be Commodus, can see 'CO' on top.

Look under Commodus for HERCVLI ROMANO AVG reverse.

Some people get Commodus and MA confused on these denarius.

If you have a multi-function printer, scanning work very well - especially when the software allows a professional setting.

Thanks medieval - I'll try that.
I've also been experimenting a bit with natural light...trying to take an angled shot in front of a window to better illuminate the relief.
