I have posted this coin in the past. I got a new macro lens for the phone camera. See the pictures of obverse Machine Doubling. The beads, Queen's chin, neck, nose and brow ridge are chopped and doubled. All legends on the obverse are a mess. I really like this example of Machine Doubling. Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

Looks like Flat Field Doubling.... fairly easy to find on the early years of the nickle dollars.

Thanks JimmyD and pginrh, I was thinking that flat field doubling had to have the first strike pushed down to the level of the field by the second strike. The step of the first strike is there. The detail on the letters in the legend is smaller as a result of the second strike shaving more off. I'm a rookie about what is happening in the collar. A vibration between strikes moves the die?
Edit: Looking at the beads I see what you mean by flat field doubling. And many of the legend letters have a very small step from first strike. Bottom photo in particular. Thanks.

Silver Don nice showing with a phone lens.. what phone is it and what lens did you get? is it the snap on lens? I am thinking of getting on as I have a few trips coming up and definitely will visit coin shops where I go... there are lots. usually I take only my Canon G10 ( 6 years old but takes even super macro shots)

Yes thanks for that Pennyman007, it is very similar to mine. 47P7, I got the Leuchtturm Phonescope macro lens for smartphones, clip on and I use my wife's Samsung Galaxy S4. Easy, affordable, $23 on sale from CA. Out of stock at this time. http://www.colonialacres.com/produc...29-95-20-off

Thanks M_d_in_guy. Having fun with any and all error coins, it is good as a viewer to look closely if you suspect an error you can get up close. I am impressed with the cell phone with macro. Have posted a few die chips in the Photography post; https://goccf.com/t/195436
