I was plugging coins into the soda machine and this coin kept getting rejected. As I went to get another dime, I noticed that this coin was unique. I looked the coin up on the internet and found similar gold coins. This coin is silver. Is it a reproduction? Any help is appreciated. I am trying to upload pictures having a bit difficulty.

Welcome to Coin Community, mtheiler. That's an interesting issue, one of only a very few US coins struck at five different mints. However, as you know, none of them are silver.

They're almost exactly the same size as a Dime, so I could see one getting mixed into a vending machine, but if real it's almost twice the weight of silver and should be noticeable in that sense. It's difficult to imagine a silver coating that won't wear off of gold easily in circulation, so we should imagine it to be a fake of some sort and go from there.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I did end up finding information about fake coins. Even though the coin ended up being fake, I found so many interesting facts about coins and collecting. I can see why coin collecting is so fascinating for collectors. Thanks again!
