Hello All!

Trying to find answer on this question (http://www.globalpuzzle.net/wisdom-pieces/70/):

This silver coin was in turnover in Olvia, an ancient Greek city. Four thousand of these coins equaled to one gold stater or two drahms. On the back side of the coin one could see a meadow, an ax, and a sign that said OLVYO. And on the front side, there was deity of the river near Olvia, which the coin was named after. What is the name of this coin?

Please, help me to answer on this question.

Thank you.

Not too sure, Olvia isn't in my greek coin book.

Denominations of greek coins are listed however. If it's like Olvia, then it's probably OBOL.

Alternate spelling is 'obolus'.

After re-reading the question, it's not clear if the coin was named after the diety 'Borysthenes' or the river 'Dnieper'. My current bet is 'Borysthenes' .

Other denominations were ...

Drachm
Dekadrachm
Tetradrachm
Didrachm
Drachm
Obol
Diobol
Triobol
Tetrobol
Trihemiobol
Hemiobol

Strange. Six obol = 1 drachm. There isn't a 1/4000th of a drachm listed.
