He was born Varius Avitus Bassianus
(from birth to accession) and when he became Emperor he changed ( or was forced to change) his name to Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus to legitimize his rule with the Antonines .

I've got loads more! I had to stop posting them individually - too many coins, becoming too annoying to others too quickly.

What if I post one thread that has all of the new ones together? It would have a ton of new pics (I think there are probably 130 silver coins still remaining). That way if someone is interested they could see them, if not, they could avoid the entire thread?
Echizento - is this ok?

MichaelS is helping me as well btw (thanks Michael!). I've now read through the entire ERIC set of pdfs. Nice to get a brief overview of each Emperor and the relative rarity of their coins.

I went to the Torex show this weekend in Toronto btw. I didn't buy any coins, just some gold bars. There was a nice Caligula for just over $9000 (I think that the listed price was $9500).

Thx pishpash!

I've just counted what I'm still going through. I've divided them up very amateurishly I'm sure into broad categories:

-31 with crowns
-23 women
-38 with beards
-36 men, no beards, no crowns
-9 'boys' or very young looking.

Some of them I've figured out (Hadrian's, 'severus', trajan's, and faustina's are the easiest for me so far to figure out). I'm still having problems reading the inscriptions, unless they're crystal-clear.

I'll wait to get the ok from Echizento...if he ok's it, I'll try posting them in one thread with lots of images.
