Good morning folks
It didn't take me long to get my next bundle of coins ( more like several hoards ) all of them unattributed as per request.
This one was easy to id but the problem I am having is in finding the matching reverse image

Faustina-Jr-Denarius,-Help-Needed

Faustina-Jr-Denarius,-Help-Needed
The 1st coins that come up on wildwinds have the matching legend but different reverses, would mine be a variant of these ?
If there are any sites you could suggest that would help with my education on this coin it would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

The only thing I can recommend is having a look in RIC or check museum sites. Sear has only those shown at Wildwinds.

Reverse looks like Diana left holding lighted torch. I can't make sense of the legend though..

The reverse legend of 'AUGUSTI. P11.FIL' can be common for a number of differerent personifications on the denarii of Faustina junior.
One has to decide on what implement(s) the personification is carrying, the determine the personification.

Next question:
What sort of implement is being carried?

Thanks for your replies & Med for filling in my missing info
To me it looks like she is carrying a trident but from what I have found it is a torch.
That's as far as I can get at the moment, the majority of my purchase is late roman so I am not so familiar with researching these earlier types.
Figuring out a Caracalla nearly broke me

I have looked at acsearch and coinproject and found no match. You may want to trawl through forvmancientcoins. Failing that, trawl through ERIC and/or RIC. It may be unlisted, don't give up :)

I think it is a coin of Faustina Junior .The reverse represents Diana with a torch to left .You can see the same Diana on a sestertius of Faustina , RICIII,1628 , Cohen 87 or S5272 , but with the inscription : Diana Lucif(era) , Diana who brings the light .It is not in Ric , but the book is about 90 years old . Well it isn't Diana Lucifera. She is an old favorite of mine. Diana Lucifera would have a crescent moon on her shoulders. She is a guide for the dead spirit. The ancients believed the spirit existed as a mere shadow visible only by moonlight. Luna or "Diana Lucifera" are rare on reverse types and typically (not always) are associated with someone making the 'journey'.

Evening all
Interesting stuff, I have checked most sources without any joy including fake lists.
Identifying the figure on the reverse seems my best option at the moment, I cant think of anything else.

I can't see a crescent moon on her shoulders, but she was the only one I could find with the torch.

It is the same representation of Diana Lucifera as on sestertius ricIII,1628.There also , Diana has no crescent on her shoulders ;cfr the description of Ric for the setertius ; Diana standing l,holding torch with both hands .On the obverse , you have also the same inscription : Faustina Auguste .If you want , I can make a pic from my sestertius . Hi Albert
Thank you for taking the time to search, I would very much appreciate it if you would post a pic of your coin.
I have drawn a blank so put it to 1 side and have buried my head in a bunch of LRB's, spikey head overload (gallienus, claudius, victorinos, postumus )
