Hello! Got this coin from my dad a while back. The obverse is black, and the reverse has some nice toning that doesn't really show. Grade/value would be awesome! Thanks!

This is an average condition War Nickel. the color is normal, maybe G-6.

VG-10. The obverse shows about 1/3 of the hair details, and the reverse shows a little detail behind the pillars (as shown in F-12 per ANA) and the rim is distinct and well separated from the legend. But the wear on the right side of Monticello and the weak pillars drag it down. While the 1945-D is a better date, unless if its VF-30 or better, expect bullion value for these as most surviving examples grade in the G-4 to VF-20 range.
