I don't know much about these coins but wondered what the value or grade might be on this one.

I'm thinking that it would be about melt value since they seem to be fairly commonly found in better condition but appreciate any opinions.

Too much lighting but the surfaces do appear to have been cleaned. Not sure aboout price but I would think its worth more than melt

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

I was given the coin about 25 years ago by my grandmother who lived in Nova Scotia. She knew I collect coins and wanted to give it to someone who wouldn't just sell it. Oddly, my grandparents never had a lot of money or collected coins so I was quite surprised that they had held on to a gold piece for so long.

I really don't know how she came to possess it or why it was of importance to her but we have a small branch of the family that settled in Massachusetts in the early 1900s so I'm guessing that is the connection.

Sorry about the lighting on the coin. I used a digital microscope that unfortunately has bright LED lights and no way to dim them.
