She knew I collect coins and wanted to give it to someone who wouldn't just sell it. Oddly, my grandparents never had a lot of money or collected coins so I was quite surprised that they had held on to a gold piece for so long. I really don't know how she came to possess it or why it was of importance to her but we have a small branch of the family that settled in Massachusetts in the early 1900s so I'm guessing that is the connection. Sorry about the lighting on the coin. I used a digital microscope that unfortunately has bright LED lights and no way to dim them. Report this Post to the Staff
